Operating within the School of Tourism, Hospitality and Service Industries, The Culinary Arts Team provides nationally accredited training in Certificate I to Certificate IV level qualifications in Commercial Cookery, Bakery and Butchery.

The primary role of the Assistant Technical Officer – Culinary Arts is to maintain the cleaning and sanitation of the Culinary Arts training areas at Charles Darwin University's Palmerston Campus. The role involves, but is not limited to, cleaning and sanitation, maintaining the food safety plan, maintaining perishable goods, minor administration duties and providing support for lecturers and students in the day-to-day operations of the Culinary Arts training areas.

The role works closely with all staff, and will be expected to support team members, especially during peak periods of training and with any special projects undertaken which may be requested by the Team Leader.

Completion of Certificate II in a related area with relevant work-related experience or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and or/expertise in the food service industry is required for this role, as is demonstrated experience in food safety, cleaning and sanitation of food production areas and the ability to prioritise work schedules.
