Police video has been released of a man allegedly scaling a roof to evade arrest in Ipswich, west of Brisbane.

Polair, the police helicopter, tracked the accused as he hung out the driver's side window of an allegedly stolen Honda HR-V, before fleeing the vehicle and climbing onto a rooftop in Brassal where he was arrested.

Police say the 20-year-old man was allegedly behind the wheel when the Honda crashed into a Hyundai i40 on Pine Mountain Road at Brassall, before driving off, around 8.40am on Wednesday morning.

The car was seen speeding along roads and dangerously dodging cars through a busy intersection.

It's alleged a number of police vehicles were also damaged in his alleged attempts to escape arrest.

The 20-year-old Brassall man has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possess dangerous drugs and one count each of evade police, enter dwelling and commit, trespass and unlicenced driving.
