ABOUT US

Sydney Multicultural Community Services (Sydney MCS) is a not-for-profit organisation with Head office based in Daceyville. Our organisation specialises in providing services such as settlement engagement and transition support, social support groups, CVS volunteers, quality Aged Care and Disability in the Eastern Suburbs, North Sydney, Sydney City and Inner West areas.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Sydney MCS has multiple opportunities for confident, reliable and passionate bilingual Case Workers to provide support to migrants who are not eligible to access services.

Sydney MCS has part-time positions for 2 case workers that are fluent in Korean and Thai.

The role will provide assistance to recently arrived migrants, including youth and families, in our community to improve general well-being and quality of life. The service provisions will include providing information and referral services and advocacy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a comprehensive casework service: information and referral on all settlement related needs (telephone & face to face) including support and other general matters
  • Liaising and advocating for clients with relevant mainstream and ethnic services
  • To work with CALD Communities and other specific ethnic communities. (E.g. Thai, Korean, Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Bengali, Urdu, etc)
  • Maintain up-to-date client data and provide bi-monthly written reports (and others as required) to SMCS Management Committee
  • Attend staff meetings and supervision as required
  • Assist with Centre functions
  • Any other duties as required by the CEO and SMCS Management Committee

 

PREFERRED CRITERIA

  • Tertiary qualifications within relevant human services field such as Social Work or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in any position related to Case Work
  • Previous experience in Youth Work

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Ability to work with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD)
  • A current police check clearance certificate
  • A current NSW Working with Children’s check
  • Must have driver's license and access to a car
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in any position related to Case Work
  • Previous experience in Youth Work
  • Ability to speak more than one language
